Classic Ads: Battlezone
Battlezone is an arcade game designed by Ed Rotberg released by Atari in November 1980. It displays a wire-frame view (using vector graphics) on a horizontal black and white (with green and red sectioned color overlay) vector monitor. Game Boy glitches on the Nintendo logo - found when I was trying to load an old Kirby’s cartridge to my custom backlighted Game Boy.
Random logo design, crazy sprites, martian typography… this kind of graphic accidents are pure retrogaming beauty, and something hypnotic for a graphic designer like me. Do you think the same?
Brings back memories. I wonder how many hundreds, possibly thousands, of garbled Nintendo logos I’ve seen over the years. It did get kind of frustrating when you would take out the cartridge, give it a good blow, put it back in, and the logo would still be messed up.
